KISARAZU -- Chiba Prefecture +++++++++++
It is a city famous for its clams (asari), which people dig out of the mud next to the harbourside factories, and the skies are crossed by approach path planes, and the whole place has a faded, postindustrial feeling of decay. Nonethless, Kisarazu is a place I have come to love (in a way) -- I worked there for a year, and it showed me a more downtrodden, rustbelt side of Japan (but all of Japan is becoming a rustbelt these days.)
