SHINJUKU CENTRAL PARK
Okay, this is nothing on Central Park in New York, but it is always nice to escape from the concrete and steel in Tokyo. Built in the shadows of the towering Metropolitan Government Building, which was once the tallest skyscraper in the city, the park is both futuristic and lush.
It may seem hard to believe, but as recently as the 1960s, West Shinjuku was once covered in rice fields and pleasure ponds, as this video from NHK illustrates:

Located to the east of Shinjuku city, on the way to Chiyoda Ward and the royal/political heart of Tokyo.
