Creative Writing

The difference between a personal narrative, and a short story or another piece of creative writing, is that a short story is completely fictional.

Most stories are written in the third-person, or the first-person. Writing in the first person sounds more personal; the third person, meanwhile, is more distant.

In comics, establishing shots are the name of the first panel in its each scene. In creative writing, it is called setting the scene.

In The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, the setting is the mid 1800s in a small town on the Mississippi River.

Ending a story is just as important as starting it. Some common types of ending are explicit, implicit and twist endings, among others. Generally, however, readers expect a happy ending.
